COmmunauté de Pratiques pour le partage d’Énergies Renouvelables

The community of practice aims to create a space for learning, experimentation, and exchange around different forms of renewable energy sharing in Valais and French-speaking Switzerland.

Our goals

  • Promote dialogue between citizens, communities, producers, start-ups, network operators, and researchers
  • Share concrete experiences, practical tools, and best practices from existing projects on the technical, legal, financial, economic, social, and environmental aspects of energy sharing in Valais
  • Identify projects for collective action for the energy transition and propose a support framework for energy sharing in Valais

What are we talking about?

A local electricity community (LEC) allows locally produced electricity to be sold within the neighborhood or across the entire municipality. It is a local marketplace where producers and end consumers can trade electricity in various constellations.

Switzerland is entering a new phase of the energy transition. With the adoption of the Electricity Act, Local Energy Communities (LEC) become possible from 2026 onwards. For the first time, locally produced renewable electricity can be shared within neighbourhoods or municipalities via the public grid.
