E4Citizen

a cooperative game to explore the transition together

Site ELLA
"Actively involve citizens, students, or employees in the energy and climate transition through a cooperative simulation game."

E4Citizens is an interactive and engaging serious game developed by the Energy Living Lab Association, designed to encourage citizen innovation in response to the challenges of the energy and ecological transition. Through a fun, card-based approach, it invites participants of all ages and backgrounds to explore together and propose creative solutions. The workshop creates an inclusive and dynamic space where diverse perspectives come together to reimagine how we live, consume, and interact in transitioning territories.

Simple and intuitive
"By playing E4Citizens, participants don't just imagine a more sustainable future, they actively shape it by developing practical solutions and pathways for implementation."
Collaborative and interactive

At the heart of E4Citizens is Energypolis, a modular representation of an imaginary city, integrating various elements of urban infrastructure related to sustainability issues. Participants take on a challenge within a limited time frame, combining three key elements—Action + Actor + Domain—to generate innovative ideas and solutions. By combining ideation techniques and systems thinking, the game encourages participants to consider not only the challenges, but also the stakeholders involved and the resources needed for implementation.

Beyond ideation, E4Citizens is part of a structured co-creation process, guiding participants from abstract ideas to concrete action plans. The workshop allows them to refine their proposals collaboratively, define achievable steps, and explore concrete applications for their solutions. Rooted in the values of co-creation, active participation, openness, and transdisciplinary collaboration, E4Citizens is an adaptable and accessible tool that can be customized for different audiences and themes.
