The Innovation Booster Living Labs for Decarbonisation is proud to announce that 8 new Innovation Teams have been selected by our Innovation Committee and will receive funding to develop their ideas in energy efficiency, mobility, circular economy and digitalisation. These Innovation Teams are all committed to co-designing solutions to impact decarbonisation in Switzerland.

ebooqueen
Ebooqueen’s main ambition is to compete with the short flight offers to Europe by proposing low impact travel from Switzerland. Inspired by the slow travel movement, its main objective is to encourage an alternative and sustainable way to travel by putting the citizen transition at the heart of its platform.
Giving travelers access to a functional and user-friendly tool, Ebooqueen aims to simplify low-impact travel booking by encouraging it to become a new normality.
In order to create qualitative offers, Ebooqueen highlights existing sustainable travel companies by integrating them into its platform, giving at the same time the cohesion and visibility that is missing today to agencies and actors of the sustainable tourism sector.
Terra Preta
Terra Preta helps Swiss companies to decarbonize their supply chains by reducing emissions from agricultural supply chains and compensating corporate emissions through carbon removal.
Simultaneously we increase the margins of Latina American farmers by improving their soil health using biochar while diversifying the income of the rural population.
Terra Preta does this by enabling farmers to produce biochar from their agricultural residues. The corresponding carbon capture is verified through 3 party certification and our internal control system that combines digital tracking tools and manual audits to ensure trust in our decentralised operation.

The wine sector is particularly vulnerable to climate change and must find solutions to reduce its environmental impact, especially in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.
During the wine fermentation process, the chemical reaction of glucose, which produces ethanol, releases CO2. Currently, the CO2 is accumulated in the fermentation tanks at the winery and released into the atmosphere (the tanks are open).
Knowing that 100L of wine releases on average 12kg of CO2, this represents about 10’000 tons of CO2 per year in Switzerland. The production of wine therefore releases significant quantities of CO2, which also has an impact on the health of the workers because too high concentrations of gas in the cellars in a closed environment are the cause of intoxications, and sometimes fatal accidents.
Our solution
Given that the transformations can be heavy in terms of habit changes for winemakers, we offer an easy solution to capture CO2 and valorize it in a circular way. This would allow to reduce CO2 emissions and thus to reduce the environmental as well as safety risks related to it.
Sugar Cup
Sugar Cup is a digital platform that enables a circular economy between neighbours. Through Sugar Cup it is possible to give, lend and sell items without the need of using a motorized vehicle. Sugar Cup has over 700 active users located in Zürich and Wädenswil. The platform is both webbased and as a mobile app. Within the Innobooster we want to foster repair of items among neighbours .
In this project we aim reducing the carbon footprint by providing people easy access to closeby repairing services for their goods, while also reducing the need of use a motorized vehicle. Through Data Analytics we will optimize the demand and offering for repairing services among neighbours.
There are many people who can contribute their skills in repairing, as for electronics or electrodomestic products, for clothes, for bikes, etc. Compared to the service of professional repair services, the advantage of using Sugar Cup is in the proximity of the person who can offer the repair and the flexibility of schedule in the delivery.
